IAS Continues to Support the the IAF's Nunavik Art Alive Program

Inuit Art Quarterly The IAS exists to “celebrate the arts of the Arctic.” By celebrate we mean to provide education about and support for the culture, art forms and artists of the Arctic.

In its initial years of existence, the IAS focused on the educational aspect, but now the IAS has matured enough to provide financial support as well.

By using membership dues, donations and annual conference fees, the IAS has collected sufficient funds to begin that process. Inuit Art QuarterlyThe initial donation of $1000 was made in 2010. A second donation in the amount of $1500 has been made in 2011.

In both cases, the IAF was selected because of its recognized support for artist workshops, education, stone collection and publication of its magazine, Inuit Art Quarterly.

Donation Designated for the Nunavik Art History Project

The monies have been designated for the Nunavik Art History Project. Its objective is to gather, and ultimately publish via a new website, as much information as possible about Inuit artists. The project is currently in the research phase and is headed by Matthew Harrison, IAF’s Managing Editor, who has the support of two volunteers.

The IAS will be recognized as a Partner on the Donor List in the fall issue of the Inuit Art Quarterly.

The members of the newly formed IAS Charitable Giving Committee are listed below and welcome and suggestions regarding future donations. These suggestions can be submitted via email to info@inuitartsociety.org.
